Honoring those that have passed at the

Missouri Valley Fire Chiefs Conference

An important part of the Missouri Valley Fire Chiefs Conference is a memorial service to recognize those who have passed in the last year. The presentation is in development and Chief Ken Watkins needs your help to recognize those from Colorado. Please email Chief Watkins the names of Chiefs (active and retired) and LODD of any rank from your departments who have passed since the last conference (July 2017) so they can be recognized.

Fire Chaplain of the Month

The Colorado Fire Chaplains Association and the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department present the Fire Chaplain Spotlight of the month for

Fire Chaplain Gary Meadows

“Fire Chaplain Gary Meadows joined Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department on November 11, 2011 and he came to us from New Raymer Volunteer Fire Department where he had been a member since January 1, 1998. Gary is one of the best members we have on our department.

He works hard taking care and looking after all our members. He cares about everyone and fits in very well with the group, telling jokes and stories that make you laugh as well as touch your life. Not only does he do his chaplain duties but he is very active in the fire calls we respond to.

In his years with FMFD, Gary has also gotten two of our member trained as chaplains to help in the duties to the firefighters as well as the families of victims that we have responded to calls on. I just can’t say enough to truly explain what an amazing person he is and our department would be lacking a vital part of cohesion if he was not there.”

In addition to his work as both a Firefighter and a Fire Chaplain, Gary pastors “The Sanctuary at Fort Morgan.” Before that he was with the New Raymer-Stoneham Fire Protection District for 13 years and served as Captain and Senior Chaplain.

Gary has been very faithful in working with Fire Chaplains throughout the State of Colorado and has served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Fire Chaplains Association and currently serves as the 1st Vice President and Treasurer. Those who have attended the Colorado State Fire Chiefs Annual Leadership Conference will recognize Gary as he has been one of the faithful volunteers who helps staff the CFCA booth.

Gary is also a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains, the Critical Incident Stress Foundation and the American Association of Christian Counselors. He proudly served with the United States Navy for six years.
